If digests are disabled (which the announcement post says so) and generation is disabled then I feel like this UI should be hidden to avoid confusion. It doesn’t seem to make anything and sending a test email does nothing.

yeah… for me its a mix of settings you should see you’re missing out on so you want to upgrade at some point and things that don’t work and are just in the way looking broken / confusing like what you pointed out above.
If you sign up to a free site you’d know that? So maybe leaving behind unhelpful settings shouldn’t be a thing to avoid confusion.

Often when I come across a gated premium feature in software, there’s an icon or popup to indicate so. That might be ideal, though I’m sure it would be a lot of work to cover all such settings in Discourse.

Thanks for catching this, I’ve updated it to hide this on the free-plan and added an indication that an upgrade is required to access the feature.
Should be rolling out soon…
