Right now Discourse is generating a TON of images though - what’s going on here?
AI-generated summary
Discourse is generating a large number of images for topic thumbnails, which is causing disk space issues for bartv. This feature was added since version 2.5.0beta4. Although bartv uses the Topic List Preview plugin, it now relies on the thumbnails generated by Discourse core. As a result, disabling thumbnail generation is not recommended. Unused thumbnails from the Topic List Preview plugin will be deleted once they are orphaned, as explained by merefield.
How many versions where you behind?
I was on 2.5.0beta4, I think you guys added support for topic thumbnails since then - is that it? I don’t really need those as I’m using the Topic List Preview plugin for now, so is there a way to disable this for the time being? It already ate through 2 5GB of disk and is far from done..
FYI Rob has changed TLP to use the thumbnails generated by core, so you’ll need those thumbnails moving forward See: Topic List Previews (legacy) - #1166 by merefield
Gotcha, thanks! Hopefully the now unused TLP old thumbnails will be cleaned up @merefield?
Images should be deleted once orphaned:
