Discourse is sending me email app notifications instead of normal notifications

I don’t understand. I’ve been active on the forum a lot. My notification
settings are enabled. See images below.

These email notifications are emails for activity on the forum. Push notifications for activity are by PWA or by Discourse Hub. Check your email notification settings in Preferences > Email.

For example, I set mine to ‘only when away’ so I don’t get too many emails.

I think you set yours to ‘always’, so it’ll send you emails whether you’re online or not.

I turned my email preferences off, so let’s see what happens this time

I didn’t get any notification even though my preferences are on when turning off the email notifications. I don’t know why it’s only sending me the email notifications.

So you do not get any notifications in the Discourse forum itself, only email notifications? That is unexpected.

Do you have notifications paused?

Or a custom notification schedule?
