The discussion introduces the Discourse Wikilinks Plugin by dvargas92495, which enables wikilinking between posts using [[]] syntax. Key features include autocomplete suggestions for topic titles, autoclosing brackets in the composer, and the ability to create new topics inline. The plugin also displays back-references (topics linking to the current one) and offers a paid contribution model via Open Collective for enhancements.
Users have reported various issues and expressed interest in its development status. Jagster noted that the plugin’s “linked references” feature was displaying incorrect connections based on tags rather than actual wikilinks, and it was interfering with search history. They confirmed the behavior originated from the plugin and requested the thread be moved to the appropriate category.
Meanwhile, oshyan recognized the developer’s work as an independent implementation of a previously discussed idea for Roam-like bracket links, expressing excitement about testing it in their digital garden. JBM highlighted the plugin’s utility for users familiar with tools like Obsidian or Notion but noted a lack of recent activity, asking if it might become an official Discourse component for corporate use. Finally, singpolyma reported that the plugin no longer works, indicating potential compatibility issues.

TODO
All issues available on the Github’s Issues are PR welcome. All issues with the enhancement tag applied will be paid to the developer who closes the issue at $25/issue, paid from our Open Collective pool found here.
If you find this plugin useful, consider becoming a sponsor so that we could pay developers to continue improving the product!
Well, this is not a bug of Discourse, so could someone with stronger tools move this somewhere else, please?
(I know — I could flag this by myself, but I’ve learned my lessons and here is two things I don’t do: I don’t mention anyone from team and I don’t flag my own posts )
I imagine, given your Roam experience, that you had the idea independently yourself. And I’m excited to see it! Thanks for doing this work. Going to play with it now in my digital garden.
There’s not been a lot af activity since some time here: this modern feature is quite powerfull, especially for people used to work with obsidian or notion.
Is there a way that this plugin becomes one day “official” (easier to use in a corporate environment).
