Ok, I’ve been noticing people signing their posts in another discourse forum
though it says this in the Discourse Meta Guidelines
Even though the discourse forum I linked has their own rules, I am confused as Someone told someone else to not do that
so does the Discourse Meta Guidelines apply to every discourse forums?
Not really, as many Discourse-based forums are independent entities and can decide their own rules.
However it’s a good guideline because of the way the software works and the nature of the UI, so other sites would do well to consider this approach.
yes like @merefield says it’s up to the individual forums to set their own guidelines and rules.
personally i don’t like signatures for the very reason stated. but there is definitely no general rule against signatures in posts, and there is also a discourse signature plugin.
