The Docuss plugin allows integrating a website or web app with a Discourse forum, providing a smoother user experience and website/forum interactions. It connects Discourse topics to existing website pages.
syl showcased the plugin’s features through a fake website, Mustacchio, and provided additional demos, including a Meteor+React web app and a live website with discussions added to each heading.
The plugin requires including some JavaScript code in the web app or website and has been tested with React and Meteor but not with Angular. It creates tags under the hood, which doesn’t help with permissions.
syl announced that Docuss now supports Wordpress blogs, but the demo has been shut down due to lack of interest.
The project is no longer active, and fixes are only provided to existing users. syl recommends checking out DiscPage, a simplified version.
Some users, like Zup, expressed interest in using Docuss with Wordpress, but syl explained that the plugin displays the Wordpress blog without its header in an iframe in the Discourse instance.
Casey_Jeppesen regretted the discontinuation of the project, highlighting the SEO value of embedding Discourse comments on webpages without using an iframe.
