Does discourse call AI APIs in the background

Hey ! Good Afternoon :slight_smile:

I recently realized that I have small peak of Gemini AI API calls while not browsing on my forum and not using any AI capabilities. I see such small “peak” or API calls exactly every 5 minutes.

I also recently noticed the “problem check” section of the admin panel that suggests some “health checks” are periodically conduct.

Does discourse calls the AI APIs on a determined interval in the background ? (Which would explain the period calls I see on my Google Cloud panel)

Yes, for many features like backfill of summaries, embeddings, sentiment, etc.

Of course, that is all dependent on which features you enabled and what settings do you have.
