Discourse is a really superb platform. But can it be accessed from the lynx browser or even the sea monkey ??
Unless they are Chrome wrappers (?) I doubt it, as only the main four browsers are explicitly supported, apparently.
Perhaps you could try them and report back?
This is a text based browser, designed for text based terminals. It has a complete lack of Javascript, css, and image rendering, and RAM usage in the 1-10 megabytes range. It will therefore not be suitable for Discourse unless you want to desperately try to read text topics only.
This is a browser that is based off an older version of firefox, specifically version the ancient version 60. It tries to spoof user agent string to work with new browser versions. But Sea Monkey browser had been reported to not work on discourse recently since the end of 2023: Seamonkey now identified as an unsupported browser. You can therefore only use it to read topics in the legacy layout
I also know of a plugin you can try to make discourse work on these older browsers, but definitely not lnyx. You can make seamonkey possibly work out with it, but I am not certain. The plugin is Dumbcourse – Old-browser friendly UI at /dumb (D-pad + small screens)
I have something for that:
