A bug was reported where users received the error message “That post was edited by another user and your changes can no longer be saved” when trying to edit a post they had just created. This issue started happening after updating to Discourse version 2.8.0.beta2. The error was intermittent and not reproducible every time.
@Richie first reported the issue and provided a screenshot. Several users, including @Moin, confirmed that they were experiencing the same problem.
@justin acknowledged the issue and stated that the team was looking into it. @sam mentioned that @nbianca would investigate the issue.
@codinghorror stated that the issue was fixed, but users continued to report the problem. @Wingtip and @jomaxro were still experiencing the issue.
@sam discovered a consistent repro by creating a post with a trailing space and then quickly editing it. @nbianca created a pull request to fix the issue, but it did not resolve the problem.
@nbianca created another pull request, which seemed to fix the issue. Users, including @itsbhanusharma and @Wingtip, confirmed that the fix worked.
Unfortunately this is not yet fixed. My users are still getting the overwrite edits message and I just saw it myself. Running 2.8.0.beta2 ( 0f9d31a85e ).
Is there anything special you did about this? Did you post and then tried to immediately edit the post or did you wait some time (refresh the page) and then attempted to edit?
