Do any ways to capture every modification exist? That period of grace is undesirable for me.
Edit the relevant site setting to set the grace period time.

Is it possible to configure as infinite?
If you check out these admin settings:
You should be able to set those to 0 and capture every revision in the edit history for all users. Though you may get a lot of typo corrections in there.
