Email notifications turned on by default?

Hi everyone,

Hopefully a quick one to answer - are the summary/digest emails sent out to users by default (when they haven’t been active for a while), or do they have to be opted into? I can’t remember if I ever actively opted in, but I do receive them.

It depends on the settings.

On a default install they are turned on but an admin can change the default to disabled.

In the site settings the default for new accounts is controlled by default email digest frequency which defaults to weekly.
