I was unable to find a discussion of this, but are email notifications for chat messages on roadmap?
With blurring the line between forum and chat, there’s an increased chance that a message that requires a direct response will end in chat. That, in turn creates risks of the message being overlooked since there are no email notifications.

I believe email notifications will soon be a part of the Chat plugin.
