I’d like the location in the event to do a lookup like is done in google calendar or facebook events, a) to aid the user in picking the location, and b) so the location is clickable to a map application
This will help us migrate to a discourse forum from Facebook groups.
I’ve developed a plugin on my end that’s really for my own use to make creating game tables easier. The user enters the name of the game I’m looking for via an API into a database; afterward, they fill in the date and a time, to which I automatically add 4 hours relative to the start time. Finally, they enter the event address using a search via the OpenStreetMap API.
I haven’t finished yet; I still need a filter system at the top.
I’m trying to go head-to-head with Discord because I want to be the only one in my region covering board games on Discourse. Anyway, I’m trying to show the potential, but frankly, it’s thanks to the community that helps me and your ideas that make me think, “Why not me?” Let’s not lie to ourselves: everyone adapts Discourse for their community to have a user-friendly and practical tool.
Taking advantage of this message, I’d like to mention that I’d love to integrate an image into the event via a URL instead of uploading an image, because with a URL, it’s much simpler for me to integrate it automatically. So I’m throwing a bottle into the sea: a URL to integrate an image into the event would be really nice, especially since it looks visually striking.
