To be clear - I have self-hosted instance installed on vps as per standard install I would like to exclude a category from appearing in the latest topic list site wide for all users, not a setting per individual users preference. Use case: I have a category which will get a least one topic added per day. Only the most recent topic will be of any interest to any user. These daily post will clutter the topic list and cause more relevant (to the forum itself) or important topics to be pushed down the topic list and out of the view of casual users. I have found an old topic related to this subject [imagem] Suppress category from latest topics gone Support Hi Discourse Team, with one of a recent upgrade it seems the category setting Suppress category from latest topics Is missing and I can’t find in the release notes, that this was intentional? Here is the latest information I’ve found from @jomaxro https://meta.discourse.org/t/hide-category-from-latest/86023/4?u=b-iggy This was a very important setting for me. Can you please verify? Thanks I have found this plugin by communiteq from 7 years ago, does it still work? In a perfect world my ultimate version of such a feature would show only the most recent topic from a category of my choosing in the latest topic list Did I miss something obvious?

i think this is the one you want [imagem] GitHub - discourse/discourse-categories-suppressed Contribute to discourse/discourse-categories-suppressed development by creating an account on GitHub.

i think the setting hides the category from categories page too. setting: [image] plugin: [image]

I can see them at the bottom [image]

[imagem] Moin: default_categories_muted Thank you Moin I did not know about this setting. I tested it and just as Lilly describes, the category gets removed from the list of categories. I made a test topic in the category I had set in default_categories_muted and it shows in the topic list on both the latest page and also in the topic list on the right side next to the list of categories on the category page.

[imagem] Andrew_Rowe: I made a test topic in the category I had set in default_categories_muted and it shows in the topic list on both the latest page and also in the topic list on the right side next to the list of categories on the category page. Were you watching the topic because you created it? Or did it show in latest for a test user - even though the category was muted for them? I cannot reproduce that.

[imagem] Moin: did it show in latest for a test user no I logged out and the topic is invisible as a test user the topic is invisible if I search as either, I can find the category and the topic

[imagem] Lilly: i think the setting hides the category from categories page too. Yes, it does, mute is a bit overkill". Does this setting not exist anymore?: “Suppress category from latest topics” It seems that would be easier? I found this discussion also: [imagem] Suppress category from latest topics gone Support Thank you so much for stepping in so quickly, @RGJ! I feel a bit silly now to say on https://community.hiveeyes.org/, even after activating the plugin within settings, we don’t see the option at the place within the category settings where it was before: [image] Did we miss something here or might there be something wrong with our instance of Discourse? We are running 2.4.0.beta8. and this additional plugin: [imagem] GitHub - communiteq/discourse-suppress-category-from-latest Contribute to communiteq/discourse-suppress-category-from-latest development by creating an account on GitHub. Will try this one: [imagem] GitHub - discourse/discourse-categories-suppressed Contribute to discourse/discourse-categories-suppressed development by creating an account on GitHub.

i think only staff can see muted categories on categories page. suppressed are viewable by non-staff in their regular place.

Just to confirm, the official response/plugin to this: [imagem] Suppress category from latest topics gone Support I already said we will make a plugin, expect one by the end of Jan, if you need it faster if you are our customer contact our support if you are not feel free to open a #marketplace topic I do not expect us to ship an anti user feature in core, just cause I speak French it does not make me a second class user, I should be allowed to see French in my home page Is this one yes?
