Expansion of Discussions in Discourse

I was reading in one of the posts that Discourse is like a dinner party where people have fun and bring up various topics for discussion, unlike organisations that have a streamlined agenda.

Now, people do come from diverse backgrounds and diverse geographical locations. Obviously the user experiences are bound to be diverse.

My question is does Discourse have the ability to house and handle this pluralistic diversity in discussions ?

In what way? Users can create topics about a central theme, then others can reply relating to that theme. Anyone can reply. Could you elaborate on what you mean?

You have moderation tools like topic timers, slow mode and flagging if discussion gets too out of hand or rude.

You have likes and reactions to facilitate a healthy discussion space, as encouragement or to agree with certain ideas.

By Discourse, l was actually referring to this particular community. I need to do a lot of studies first in order to develop mine. It’s actually in a conception stage as you can see.

What are you even on about? This is forum/discussion software that can be made into whatever you want.

Why would you even bother studying this forum, it will be completely different to yours, this is a help desk, product development forum. Yours will be completely different.

You would be better off using chatgpt/ AI to get a grasp of what your doing

Yes, in addition to what Nate said, Discourse also offers AI translations which allows members all over the world to feel more comfortable as they can read in their own language which boosts engagement as more people feel included and valued.

The discourse AI is really very helpful :blush:

Discourse is a framework, a bag of tools to build your own community. It will do what you configure and customise it to do. This specific community is about using those tools and collaborating with the discourse team and fellow users thereof (my interpretation anyway).

For me it is primarily a form of access to technical support and related resources, and more recently, in this sub-category, to understand the challenges and successes of others that run communities.

You seem to have the cart in front of the horse and really need to have a solid idea about what you want to achieve before you start digging into the technical nitty-gritty of the platform.

This topic does seem like a slight variation on the theme of the previous, now closed, topic.

My moderation senses are starting to tingle
