Is there a way to make it so that users only have a name option and that usernames are completely hidden \ removed? It’s a fairly formal website so I want people using usernames not display names. Thanks!

You could disable names with the enable names site setting: [Screen Shot 2021-08-20 at 14.26.55] And then change all occurrences of the “Username” text in Customize → Text section: [Screen Shot 2021-08-20 at 14.25.41]
