Hello

I migrated from phpbb 3 and all is working good !
Content/categories/users were imported with no problems!

Since this is my first install and use i have a question about speed.
I am using cloudflare as DNS and also have proxied it for increase speed and cache.
I have a VPS(not shared) with 8 gb ram and 2 cores with 100 gb ssd sata
(during visits i get 1/2% cpu usage or less)

Hi there, I visited your site and it is relatively snappy. Categories are loading in 100ms and threads in 230. If the site is hosted in Romania (based on the .ro TLD) then that is to be expected because I’m over in the US.

If speed is still a concern for you, I would check to see the resource usage during things like pageload. 2 cores aren’t really a lot so if Redis is slamming your CPU it will slow things down but obviously at least for me things are fine at the moment on your site.

I’ll do more tests today for cpu usage.

update:

added 2 more cores and it feels much faster ..even the cpu usage dropped a lot.
ill replace the server soon with a newer model since this one has an old cpu from 2012!

Unless your chip is really weak that typically isn’t an issue. Webservers and databases like more threads and don’t usually benefit from super fast clocks the way desktop chips do, which is why you see high end enterprise chips with 256 threads @ 3.5GHz instead of 32 threads @ 6GHz.

i had a HP ProLiant DL360e Gen8 — 1x Xeon E5-2420, 40 GB DDR3 4x sata ssd

and replaced with Dell PowerEdge R630 — 2× Intel Xeon E5-2673 v4, 64 GB DDR4 4x sata ssd

there is some difference but for now i cant see much(i moved all ssd’s with proxmox to the new server)

that DDR4 and the SSDs should help a lot with redis and postgres respectively, great upgrade overall
