I’ve been building a gamification infrastructure API for product teams. You send it events, it handles the progression layer: XP, streaks, badges, coins, evolving companions, paths. Widgets and webhooks included.
Started as an internal system for my own EdTech company. Pulled it out as a standalone product after rebuilding it three times in five years.
The more I talk to community managers, the more I see the same pattern: Discourse’s built-in trust levels and badges are a solid foundation but hit a ceiling fast. You can’t tie progression to specific behavior patterns, you can’t run a coin economy, you can’t build streaks that drive daily return.
Thinking about building a proper Discourse integration before I prioritize other platforms. Wanted to
check if there’s real appetite here first.
