Recently a lot of parentheses with numbers with the hash symbol started appearing on our site (self-hosted).
Does anyone know if it’s a bug or a feature that can be turned off (I’ve tried but can’t find where to turn it off

Do they exist in How to use Discourse Safe Mode?
Looks like you are running some sort of translation plugin that highlights all translation strings in the UX. Recommend you look through your plugins and remove dev plugins from production.
