I set up andreijiroh-dev.discourse.group on the free tier plan to try out Discourse as well as to actually set up a dedicated space for my own community of close friends but because life happens I got an email that the instance is currently in read-only and can’t log in to do the admin chores (including backing up and turning off read-only mode if that exist). Do I need to email support as the only option and self-host instead (I have an homelab server laying around the house for that) if that’s the case.
Hi there, I can help. On our Free plan we require a minimal level of activity to keep the site active—if there are no new registrations or posts for several weeks an automated process kicks in.
I have reprieved the read-only state so you’ll be able to access the site again now. As long as someone posts each week you shouldn’t have any further problems.
