Hide sub-categories in hamburger menu

I’ve seen a couple of other topics asking about this but they’re a bit older and I can’t see if this is possible or how to do it.
Is it possible to hide sub-categories in the hamburger menu?

Sure, that’d be helfpul wouldn’t it

The circled items below are sub categories (i.e. a category that has one of the other categories as a parent). This is what we’d like to be able to suppress, otherwise this menu and the categories page could become overwhelming.
