How could I go about making it so that topics that are within a sub-category don’t show up in the main category? I think this looks messy and kinda defeats the purpose of having sub-categories when they still show up in the top level category.

Have a look here [imagem] When in a category, default to "none" rather than "all" subcategories Support There’s a setting for this on a per-category basis. Head over to the category page. For example… https://meta.discourse.org/c/support/6 then click on the wrench icon here [category edit button] This takes you to the settings for that specific category. From there, click here. [category settings sections] and scroll down a bit until you see this setting [image] change that to “no subcategories” like so [image] And that will give you the desired result for that category - the topic …

Yeah, this is actually rather weird and messy. I noticed that on this very board.. the plugin section properly separates the subforums.. and it has a lot of subforums.. The dev subforum, however, mixes the two. So obviously there is some code that is capable of making a decision on that somewhere.

Did you find a solution to this?

I would also like to have a feature for this. I am using discourse as a support forum: Feature Requests - Squidex Support My goal would be to move all “tagged” features to a subcategory so that I only have to see the open requests. But this is not doable at the moment.

Did you folks find a way around this?

Do you want to have it like this? You can choose none as subcategory to see just the topics in the top category.

Yes, I was looking into defaulting to none as well, Found this, but the solution seemed rather convoluted and didn’t work everywhere per the posters, could you please highlight if there’s a more straightforward solution? [imagem] When in a category, default to "none" rather than "all" subcategories Support Fixed it via JS. You have to add this code to your head. // For categories list $(document).on('mouseover', 'td.category div.pull-left a', function() { // do it only once if ($(this).hasClass('link-fixed')) { return; } // do it only if there's subcategories if ($(this).parents('td.category').find('div.subcategories').length) { var link = $(this).prop('href'); $(this).prop('href', link+'/none'); } $(this).addClass('link-fixed'); }); …
