I don’t know what “METERS” is (is it Metermail?), but you can change SMTP settings by editing your app.yml file.

Which SMTP do you recommend for sending?

It depends on how many emails your forum will send each month. For a small forum, the free Mailgun plan might be enough with 100 emails per day, until you figure out if you need more.

Just a side note that Brevo gives 300 a day for free. No issues so far.
