How can I turn off my forum?

I was wondering how I can stop my forum because I need to do some maintenance and I want no one to access it.

Edit: I cannot turn off my VPS because I am hosting 2 Discord bots on it.

You can:

  1. Put it in Read Only mode - admin > backups > enable read only mode
    Or
  2. shut down the Discourse container ./launcher stop app

I tried ./launcher stop app but it doesnt seem to work so i’ll try the other method.

What issue are you facing exactly with ./launcher stop app you’ll have to do it in discourse working directory /var/discourse

I do that but when I run the command, the site seems to be still up.

It takes about 1 minute for the container to shut down it should go offline after that.
