How do I defer something?

All the posts about deferring seem to be broken, like the first one here mentioning the defer feature being “shipped”…

I turned on the “Enable defer topic functionality by default.” on my instance, but i can’t figure out how to defer things.

Look for “Enable mark topics as unread” under https://meta.discourse.org/my/preferences/interface (the /my/preferences/interface path in your Discourse instance)

That enables a defer button on topics.
