How is the number of users in the user directory calculated?

Continuing the discussion from New Leaderboard/User Directory Features :tada::

How is this calculated? The number on my forum is much lower than the total number of users. Does it exclude people with <1min reading time, for instance? Does it take account of people who have hidden their profile (allow users to hide profile) or inactive accounts (show inactive accounts)?

Also, it is the same number for All Time / Year / Quarter / Month / Week / Today. That seems unlikely to be accurate, and makes me think it might be a bug so I’ll put this in the bug category for the time being.

I’ve had to disable it again, as it was completely inaccurate – e.g. saying someone had replied this week who hasn’t been seen for over a year.

Is there any way to recreate the whole directory? I see in relation to posts the term “rebake” – is this possible here? Thanks.
