The discussion revolves around clearing notifications in a Discourse forum. Ninetailz asked how to clear notifications, and zogstrip suggested going to /my/notifications and clicking the Mark all as Read button. However, Ninetailz couldn’t see the button. codinghorror inquired if the user was on the latest version of Discourse.
Ninetailz clarified that they were on v1.5.0.beta8 and provided a screenshot. They also asked about removing an account from the launcher’s SSH. jomaxro explained that it’s only possible to mark notifications as read, not delete them. Ninetailz expressed concerns about the growing list of notifications and difficulties with clicking the admin button.
sam mentioned that the Mark all as Read button is hidden if there are no notifications to mark as read. codinghorror suggested enabling the button all the time to help users with OCD, and sam agreed, considering it a more straightforward approach than hiding the button.
While connected, go to “/my/notifications” and click the Mark all as Read button ![]()
Don’t see the button?
Are you on the latest version of Discourse?
At the moment you cannot “delete” notifications, only mark them as read. What is your goal in deleting the notification?
The list getting too big, and having problem with clicking admin button..
There is an edge case where we do not show the button if you have nothing to mark read.
Should we enable it all the time? Might help OCD people, even if it is like the elevator door close button that does nothing…
Sure, I am fine with just leaving it around. Way too fancy this hiding button thing.
