Finding Pageview Data for a Specific Topic

A user, hequaye, was unable to find pageview stats for one of their top community posts. They could see pageviews for other posts but not for the specific topic in question. Benjamin_D suggested adding .json to the end of the topic URL to find the pageview data, which worked but was not a user-friendly solution.

cocococosti explained that the stats section at the bottom, called “topic map,” is only displayed in topics with replies. For topics with no replies, like hequaye’s, the topic map is not displayed.

As an alternative, cocococosti recommended using the Data Explorer plugin to retrieve pageviews with the query: SELECT views FROM topics WHERE id = <topic-id>. Another option is to check the views column from the latest page.

Hello everyone, this may be a silly dumb request… but I can not see pageview stats for one of my topics I posted that’s a top post in my community.

I can see pageviews for other posts…

But for some reason I don’t get any metrics on page views on this post:

Is this because there are no replies? How do I find the page views for a specific topic?

I’m sure there are some more elegant ways but you can find everything by adding .json at the end of any topic url, and especially views:

Yea that worked… but man it wasn’t pretty :grimacing:

That stats section at the bottom is called “topic map”, and it is only displayed in topics with replies.

It is not displayed in topics with no replies because it would include useless info, see Show topic-map without a reply - #7 by awesomerobot

You can use the data explorer to get the pageviews in your topic:

SELECT views FROM topics WHERE id = <topic-id>

Or check the views column from the latest page:
