The discussion revolves around achieving Google search results similar to Quora and StackOverflow for a Discourse forum. JKBaseer shares images of desired results, but notes that Google Webmaster shows “We do not detect any structured data on your site.” codinghorror clarifies that this feature only applies to Q&A software and may be possible for Discourse topics with the “solved” plugin in the future.
SidV shares a similar result on their SAP forum and suggests focusing on content rather than SEO. SidV also confirms that no technical setup is required to achieve this. Ivan_Rapekas shares a method to enable browser search in a community forum by creating a custom search engine in the browser settings.
The consensus is that achieving the desired search result is not currently possible with technical setup, but may be possible in the future with the “solved” plugin.
This images says everything. So when a user search “How to solve ___ in this software” in google search , we get very structured results from Quora and stackoverflow.
Am not exactly sure how to get this but previously I have used Google Webmaster Structured Data
And when people search, i was able to get something like below . Do you guys know how? because currently my discourse site on webmaster shows " We do not detect any structured data on your site."
Not sure to start new topic, but I find this topic is relative. Just to know, it is possible to make browser search in your community forum. This might be helpful when a forum is a powerful community knowledge base.
For example, in Edge:
goto edge://settings/searchEngines
create new engine Meta with URL like https://forum.example.com/search?q=%s
goto edge://settings/search
make Meta as default search system
make address bar as default (recommended)
type your request in new tab and enjoy results.
For topics which require auth, you need to be logged in in other browser tab.
