It continues to show up as such despite disabling the hiding option. Is it b/c the profile’s content is empty?
The discussion revolves around why user profiles remain hidden despite disabling the ‘hide profile’ option. stanigator initially suspects it might be due to empty profile content and shares screenshots showing the interface. ondrej asks if the save button was pressed, but stanigator clarifies there is no save button and shares another screenshot. ondrej realizes the issue may lie in user preferences rather than site settings, suggesting checking if users have disabled profile visibility in their own preferences, and notes that unchecking ‘allow users to hide profile’ should ideally unhide profiles automatically. stanigator asks whether individual users must uncheck the setting themselves or if an admin can override it, noting this is for an internal team. Moin references a prior topic explaining that low Trust Level (TL) users’ profiles are restricted by default — anonymous, TL0, and TL1 users can’t see profiles of users with 0 posts (except staff), and TL0/anonymous can only view TL1+ profiles. Moin suggests disabling the hide_new_user_profiles site setting to resolve this. stanigator confirms this was the solution they were seeking.
Did you press save?
Ah sorry I assumed you were talking about this in the user preferences.
it might be worth checking it is disabled in their preferences so their profile is public then disabling the site setting.
You’d think that unchecking the allow users to hide profile would unhide profiles whether the profile setting was on in my opinion anyways.
Would the specific users have to uncheck this rather than have the admin look into this? This is for the internal team.
Maybe that’s why the profiles are hidden. You can disable that using the hide_new_user_profiles site setting.
I think this was what I was looking for.
