How to reply to staged user through discourse?

Hi there!

Some messages arrive on my Discourse through a category email in. When they come from a non registered user, that creates a distant staged user.

Is there a way to have Discourse send back to this user the replies to its message?

By distant user, do you mean staged user?

If yes, then they get notified on any reply to the topic/post they send an email to. See this guide for details, specifically:

A special placeholder account which is created automatically by the system for email integration

• No email digests are ever sent
• Automatically watches all messages it participates in and receives notifications of replies
• May reply via email to notifications
• Username and Name are automatically picked
• Account may still register with the same email and “take over” the staged account.
• Forgot password will do nothing …when you attempt to send a password reset to a staged account

Yes, you’re right (I’ve edited the title of the topic). I was influenced by the french translation, sorry. OK so I understand it works out of the box! Thanks! I’ve never noticed it because the emails are generally redirected to private categories to avoid annoying most of users with it.

I feel like I have to rethink our strategy…
