I have a couple of test sites running Discourse just with IP’s at present and I have been testing Elastic Email (EE). Seems ok so far but I haven’t done the domain verification SPF stuff yet. I want to change the admin email address but it’s an email address that is being “suppressed”, not bounced…

[Bild] pfaffman: You can put multiple admin addresses in app.yml Via discourse-setup right? But what is the syntax for entering passwords relating to multiple admin accounts if I tried your suggestion? I know it’s wrong, but I have one long complex password that I use for 100’s of logins ar…

There are no user passwords in app.yml, so ./discourse-setup does not set admin passwords. rake admin:create does; you can run it and add as many users as you want. [Bild] Costas: I have one long complex password that I use for 100’s of logins around the world It’s completely unrelated to th…

@pfaffman ah yes the password requested in discourse-setup is just for the email server not for the admin accounts. I will try your suggestion of editing app.yml now.

[Bild] Costas: I will try your suggestion of editing app.yml now. The only password there is for SMTP. If you want to set user passwords, do this: cd /var/discourse ./launcher enter app rake admin:create

@pfaffman going round in circles a little here. Bad admin email address, how do I fix it in Discourse?

[Bild] vinothkannans: You can change default admin email address in app.yml file as below How to edit app.yml file? After that you will need to enter your discourse folder, type out: cd /var/discourse then: nano containers/app.yml That’s it! Just make/edit your changes, then do: git pull …

[Bild] vinothkannans: You can change default admin email address in app.yml file as below Ah this is the issue, default admin. admin1 with bad email address is not currently default as it’s not safe to use it with a bad email address. If I change default to admin1 and set the email address, a…

Your problem, which exists only because your forum is broken and cannot send email, is that you cannot log in as some admin user you have created already, right? You can set the password for that user …

[Bild] pfaffman: then it’s fairly difficult if email isn’t working no kidding  [Bild] pfaffman: is that you cannot log in as some admin user you have created already, right? Wrong. I can log in but I don’t get any email notifications because EE or an.other has blocked th…

Change the user to not be an admin. Then you can change the email address without email confirmation.

no kidding

Wrong. I can log in but I don’t get any email notifications because EE or an.other has blocked the email address.

Email works fine for other admin and regular users, just not main admin (me).
