The user is seeking help to configure the DeepSeek R1 0528 LLM for automatic translations in Discourse AI, questioning its free status and facing issues with translation setup. They initially struggled with the interface, particularly with the globe icon for translation and the visibility of localized content. After troubleshooting, they discovered that translations were not appearing due to incorrect settings, including a problematic temperature parameter in the API configuration. The user also confirmed that public posts are necessary for auto-translation to work, as their earlier test posts were private. After adjusting settings and creating public content, translations began to function, though the user noted inconsistencies, such as Russian topics being translated into English. The community provided guidance on enabling translations, testing with new posts, and ensuring proper configuration. apoiata, NateDhaliwal, pmusaraj, and Moin contributed to resolving the issue.
I am not sure if “DeepSeek R1 0528 - free” is really free? I created an account and obtained API key. The URL https://api-docs.deepseek.com/quick_start/pricing provide some pricing data but DeepSeek R1 0528 is not here.
I gave up on DeepSeek and successfully set up OpenAI but I select a post, press on … then a globe, I see a message that translation will be replaced, press OK and I see the message - Post has been sent for translation, but no translations are made. I see on OpenAI that request was served.
Try that, too. If no translations show up, you can look at /logs to see if there are any errors reported from the background job that does the translations.
I always read manual first but the description in this article is confusing. It will be more helpful to have screenshots with proper settings and relevant information how it is working and dependencies. I am stuck now with all these settings.
