Looking for someone to create a database so I can install discourse on my server including SSH in doctor etc. I can configure the community I believe the biggest thing is going to be the installation for me anyway

I’ll have to check on my server to see what kind it is I was told it was SSA successible but primary for hosting websites but I’ll ask and get right back to you

Thanks Nate unfortunately my server company tells me that if anything goes wrong with that type of server they have nothing that they can do They manage other servers not that type basically they said I would lose all of my data and they would reinstall an OS Now I know problems happen I’m not an expertise but what could go wrong that the average person couldn’t fix That and privacy if self-hosted through a VPS …. Tied into cloudflare That would be the most private you could get until somebody shows up with the correct letterhead and says I want your data your credit scores too low.jk

Sure but I was told I can get the correct server, But they aren’t managed enough something goes wrong I’m screwed cuz I have no idea about servers and ssh once installed is it pretty good to go for a novice

Well, I can install it for you and point you in the right direction to backup your data. So, if the provider wipes your OS, it is just a re-install.
That’s why i made dashboard.literatecomputing.com. It will run command line upgrades with a click.

That’s where being hosted by a discourse provider cones into play. Or a service like @pfaffman’s dashboard service; which includes his support.
I guess it really wouldn’t matter I’m delusional to think that if a certain alphabet company showed up with a letter in a couple guys to to the disclose office they could get any kind of information they want So what I’m trying to say in essence is virtual private network that I lease their network servers Joe blows network servers there’s always going to be a hole hell if they caught John McAfee you’re not safe on the internet. That said I may consider just using a discourse server.

What hosting provider are you using?
On our hosting, we’ll honor DMCA takedowns, but if a private company or person wants client information, we tell them to go to the authorities and they can come and get it with a search warrant.
