I’m an admin of a new Discourse forum running on Digital Ocean. All’s working well so far as we prep to open our doors in a month or so.

The Discourse IOS app is working but seemingly with some quirks. And we just noticed the phrase in the App store description:

“for officially hosted discourse forums”

What should I tell my users to expect with their use of the Apps, both Android and IOS?

Primarily the native notification issue, other than that it will work as expected.

No, this is not possible. You’d need to use a paid Discourse specific hosting plan, either here or elsewhere.

Hey @jtbayly I recently published a plugin for pushover that allows a user to sign up for push notifications over Pushover. Other push services could probably be added with not too much difficulty. Maybe this can help scratch your itch here.

Sì, ma non era correlato a questa discussione. Ho semplicemente scaricato un’app gratuita sul mio iPhone chiamata Fig. Su tutti gli altri dispositivi, le notifiche push funzionano immediatamente. Spero che questo aiuti.

Ciao a tutti, scusate il disturbo. Volevo solo verificare lo stato del problema delle notifiche push su iOS per i forum auto-ospitati. È passato un po’ di tempo dall’ultimo post qui. Ci sono novità o è ancora impossibile?

Non ci sono state modifiche recenti per aggiungere ulteriore supporto alle notifiche push self-hosted nella nostra app iOS. Tuttavia, l’app dispone di un processo in background che dovrebbe essere eseguito circa ogni mezz’ora e che dovrebbe recuperare le notifiche push. Questo utilizza un servizio di fetch in background fornito dal sistema operativo, notoriamente inaffidabile, quindi è possibile che non funzioni molto bene.

Mi dispiace, ma le notifiche push self-hosted richiederebbero la registrazione di un account con Apple. Discourse non può gestire i dati dei forum che non ospitiamo.

Grazie, Sam. Quando dici di registrare un atto con Apple, come potrei farlo, dato che non si tratta di un ID sviluppatore per un’app, ma specificamente di un sito web che utilizza l’app Discourse? È possibile??

Dovresti:

  1. Fare un fork di Discourse Hub
  2. Registrare un account sviluppatore con Apple
  3. Ricomporre l’app come applicazione standalone per il tuo sito
  4. Pubblicarla sull’App Store
  5. Costruire l’infrastruttura necessaria per gestire le notifiche push

Temo che non esista una soluzione semplice in questo caso: su Android, Google offre un proxy pubblico, mentre Apple no.
