Is there any plan to develop a rewards type system that will automatically assign points to members based on their contributions?
No.
The Trust Level and Likes systems already exist. Doing more “gamification” risks causing people to chase points instead of actually contributing.

I‘ve seen that in Woltlab, and it was predictable and kind of boring. Reaching specific badges without having to care about number of points is a nice thing, in my communities users like that. Valuable community members identify themselves with different metrics than just points
