Is it possible to force encryption for all personal messages?

AI-generated summary

The discussion revolves around enabling global encryption for all private messages by default in a plugin. Aizada_M initially inquired about this functionality, which was also sought after by jrgong. Heliosurge provided a potential solution through plugin settings, but jrgong pointed out that this only sets encryption as the default in the composer and does not prevent sending regular messages when the receiver does not have end-to-end (E2E) encryption enabled. jrgong suggested greying out the “Submit” button when encryption is disabled as a possible solution. Heliosurge was unsure about this feasibility and recommended testing the settings with regular users.

Greetings, I extend my sincere gratitude for such a magnificent plugin!
Is it possible to enable global encryption of all private messages for all users by default in the plugin settings or each user must enable encryption themselves?

@Aizada_M
Have you found any solution for this? we are looking for the same functionality.

I believe these settings should do the trick.

Note you may need to do a tutorial for those enabling multiple devices on how to enable p2p encryption on their other devices.

I think, it just sets encryption enabled as default in composer. But when the receiver doesn’t have E2E enabled yet, you can still send a regular message. We want to prevent that.
For us, just greying out the “Submit” button when encryption is disabled, would do the trick already. is that feasible?

I am not sure.

The first setting I marked enables I believe Encryption for all users

The 2nd makes all new PMs encrypted after being enabled.

Best to create some test users or set a time to test with some regulars to see how it behaves.
