Is it possible to paste images as their source address?

When I right-click on an image and go to “copy image” and paste it somewhere, a formatting like

How do I make it paste only the image link and not this formatting? I know that if I right-click and click “Copy link address” or “Copy image address” only the image link will be pasted, but I want this to be possible in “Copy image”

I want to remove this automatic formatting I want only the link to appear

@Canapin Did you find any solution for this?

That is not possible as the link information doesn’t exists when you use “Copy image” instead of “Copy image address”.

So do you want me to not remove this formatting?

Sorry didn’t quite undertand what you meant there. You can also ask in portuguese if that’s easier.

Maybe him don’t want to upload and show the image. Just show the original URL of image.

I was using Google Translate, I think the translation didn’t come out very well.

So, every time I use “COPY IMAGE”, that formatting (those codes) comes out. I don’t have a problem using “COPY IMAGE ADDRESS” or “COPY LINK ADDRESS”, but the users of my forum are annoying, they are used to using “COPY IMAGE” and because of that the gifs don’t embed, because they come with that code, is there any way to completely remove this code? When a person uses “COPY IMAGE” and pastes, will only the image link come without any code?

Yes, I really want the original image URL when I use COPY IMAGE, without these codes

So, when one of your users uses the famous “COPY IMAGE”, the browser goes and copies only a photo of the image into the operating system’s copy and paste area. When they go and paste it, there is no information about where that photo was taken, just a photo.

So it’s impossible to make “COPY IMAGE” work, because it’s a browser and operating system thing. It has NOTHING to do with Discourse.

What you can do is install the Discourse Gifs component component, and if they put the GIFs there, there’s no problem.

Speaking of which, Bad Nat > Larissa :stuck_out_tongue:

It’s because before, I used Wordpress with BBpress, so for my members to copy and paste gifs, they just had to use “COPY IMAGE” normally and it wouldn’t cause any problems.

Then when I migrated to Discourse, this option doesn’t work because that code appears, which makes the gifs look like pictures.

So, this code is driving me crazy because my members only complain about this. I tell them to use “COPY IMAGE LINK”, but they are too used to it and are on autopilot with “COPY IMAGE” (they had this option for years).

But then, if I install this component you gave me, will this problem no longer happen?

Oh, Larissa died LOL Bad Nat is the best.

Got it. I think it’s possible to implement this functionality, but it will be a lot of work. I’ll create a topic in Feature for it.
