Is er een "Reply to View" plugin voor Discourse?

Hi everyone,I’m relatively new to Discourse and I’m wondering if there’s a plugin or feature that allows for “reply to view” functionality. Specifically, I’m looking for something that would allow me to hide part of a post’s content until someone replies to the thread.

I’ve looked around but haven’t found anything that does exactly this. Does anyone know if such a plugin exists? Or perhaps if there’s a workaround or alternative method to achieve something similar?

I understand this might not be a common request, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts and experiences. Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve never heard or thought of that as a possibility. Usually a reply is only helpful when in response to something.

Could you create an automation that will only trigger when they send/post something or if they join a group?

This private reply plugin isn’t exactly a “reply to view” plugin, but it has been very useful to me as well. Thank you so much for recommending it! However, I’ve noticed a few drawbacks. While I do need the private reply feature, I’m not a fan of the option that allows private replies to be made public through a second setting. This might make some responders feel betrayed.

I understand your point. The reason I need this feature is that our creators thrive on feedback and encouragement. By making replies visible only after responding, we can boost their motivation and engagement. Thank you for considering this!

What is the difference between a plugin and a theme component? Someone mentioned that a theme component wouldn’t be hard to bypass—could you please explain what that means? Thank you!

Plugin vs. theme component

Continuing the discussion from Thumbs up, twice: Sorry, I didn’t try search — I’m a horrible person. But if out there is a plugin and a theme component and those do (almost) same thing what is the most important difference between those two? A plugin needs rebuilding, of course, but is there some other reasons why other is better choice than other?

When to use a plugin vs theme component?

Theme-Component v Plugin: What's the difference

Can someone clarify the difference between these three Discourse concepts: theme-component, plugin, and pluginAPI. Especially between theme-component and plugin. If I want to customize my forum, how do I know which to build? (sorry if I missed this distinction in the intro, but I’m not seeing it there)

Ja, ik dacht erover om dat te vragen. En zo niet, dan kun je @copymonopoly misschien toch beter het plugin van @rgj gebruiken, omdat het open source is en door hem hier ondersteund wordt (heb ik gelijk, Richard?), en daarom waarschijnlijk met minimaal gedoe zal blijven werken met toekomstige updates.

Bedankt voor de vraag! Ter verduidelijking: mijn plugin is niet hetzelfde als die van @rgj. Het zorgt ervoor dat gebruikers een onderwerp moeten beantwoorden voordat ze de inhoud ervan kunnen zien. Daarentegen is de plugin van @rgj voor privéantwoorden, die alleen zichtbaar zijn voor de auteur van het bericht.

Wat betreft open source: mijn plugin is nog erg ruw - meer een “lappentken” die nauwelijks werkt op mijn eigen site. Het is nog niet echt klaar voor algemeen gebruik, en mijn code is niet echt een complete plugin.

It makes it so that users need to reply to a topic before they can see its content. In contrast, @rgj’s plugin is for private replies, which are only visible to the post author.
