After updating to the latest versions, users are reporting that devices running iOS 16.7 cannot upload photos. Is anyone else experiencing it?

We currently support iOS 16.4+ (per https://github.com/discourse/discourse#requirements), so 16.7 should work.
Do you have any more information about what users are seeing when they try to upload photos @sok777?
cc @Falco I wonder if this could be related to the recent-ish resizing/wasm work?

From the limited information I have so far, it’s two devices (iPhone 8 and iPad 5) experiencing the same thing. When they try to upload the page refreshes. I turned off ‘Composer media optimization image enabled’ at that point the users said it wouldn’t refresh, but just be stuck on 0%.

to be clear, both were running the latest ios 16.7 build. they cannot upgrade further.
Most likely. I tested it on current Apple devices but looks like I missed the 2017 batch.
Will add an exception for iOS devices who have reached end of life (2018 and older today).

Hmm, strange, that’s the version I’m running, updated yesterday. Now I’m updating again, but it said that only these updates were pending:
Unfortunately I don’t own an iOS device to test with, but my users had success on https://try.discourse.org but not on my ESR forum.
It’s possible that it’s a different issue. The best thing would be to find out more info from the users. Screenshots of any errors or broken behaviour would be ideal.
Also note that @Falco’s fix was specific to very old iOS versions. It won’t have any impact on 90% of iOS users on currently-supported devices.

Aha, thanks! It seems like GitHub needs at least 8 characters of a commit hash because of the size of our repository. Did you see e7c7262 somewhere in our UI? If so we should increase the number of characters being displayed
Anway, you definitely have the fix, so there must be something else going on here. Could you ask an affected user to share their exact User Agent? You can find it like this.

I wonder if it has anything to do with the specific image upload settings?
EDIT: You probably noticed my very small image upload limits. I’ve been instructing my users to test with a tiny ~75KB image and there have still been issues with that. But then another user just reported success by resizing an image. His user agent is:

Probably unrelated to this, this user that had success initially had received the same error that others have been having, which looks like just an unspecific general error, but in his case at least it was actually because of the size:
Interesting! This makes me suspicious that the issue is caused by
1MB is really low for today mobile cameras. Could you try resets on the image upload related settings and then ask users to retry ?
