Jittery keyboard in "languages I understand" input box on mobile

Priority/Severity: ≥Moderate?

Platform: Edge on Android, Discourse Meta (can reproduce in safe mode)

Reproducible steps:

  1. Go to a topic that has the 文A button, like Admin-Hinweise nach letztem Update (this URL includes the safe mode flags :slight_smile: but you need to refresh the page for them to take effect)

  2. Tap on the “languages I use” input box

  3. While the select menu is open, scroll down to make the input box as close to the top of the whole “Content language preferences” box as possible

  4. Dismiss the keyboard

  5. From then on, if you tap on the input box (the one that says “Search…”) again, the keyboard jitters: appears and quickly disappears

    From the recording it seems it also happens if you tap something in the select menu

I am unable to reproduce this.

Is this on an android emulator? My keyboard looks slightly different from yours, I am on a Pixel 10 Pro running Android 17.0 (emulator). My dismiss keyboard button is in a different spot, but no matter how I dismiss it I can’t reproduce the jittering.

I’m trying to repro this. Interestingly, while this does not happen for me, scrolling too far up automatically closes the keyboard.

But neither Gboard nor Samsung Keyboard cause this. Could this be a device-keyboard problem?

I can still reproduce it. With the Sogou keyboard customized for Xiaomi.

So how to deal with this?

PS. I can’t reproduce with Fcitx.

I won’t call to make Sogou for Xiaomi keyboard a priority so if this is it it’s okay for me. Unless someone else replies to this thread and wants support for that keyboard.
