I as a moderator that has to clean up quite some topic titles would appreciate it if there was a keyboard shortcut to a) start editing and b) saving these edited topic titles.
Suggestion for saving: Ctrl + Enter (as when replying to or editing posts)

This would also help when fixing up categories, because when the focus is in the title edit field, after pressing Tab, you can directly start typing a new category

Yes, I agree this should work @eviltrout – ctrl + enter should work when editing title / category the same way it works when editing a post.

This would also help with teams that need to add tags to a lot of topics. I’ve had a couple clients that wanted to speed that process up but their situation didn’t lend itself to bulk editing.
