Link counter missing for attachments

I did an update recently and some users have reported an issue where uploaded files (mainly text files) are missing their counters.

When uploading a file you get this syntax:

[test.txt|attachment](upload://ekKqBuaScWkd1tpIoytYePGOjGw.txt)

This would not show a click counter, but when you removed the |attachment portion, the counter would show.

At somepoint this behavior has changed in the past few months where the counters no longer show regardless the presence of |attachment

Is there a way to restore this functionality?

Is the second part not meant for the resolution of an image? Seems wrong to me that it’s there at all for non-images..
