Local Server Multiple IPs

AI-generated summary

The discussion revolves around installing Discourse on a local Ubuntu 20 server with multiple IPs. SirSid asks about the correct installation directory, and RGJ advises to install in /var/discourse while configuring Apache2 and Discourse Docker/nginx to avoid IP conflicts. After attempting the installation, SirSid encounters issues with Apache and inquires about changing the listen ports in the base code. Canapin suggests reading the Discourse documentation on setting up the platform on a server with existing Apache sites.

Hello,
I am new to this. I would like to Install on my Local Ubuntu 20 server with Multiple IPs.
I want to Install on 1 IP & NOT the ROOT IP. My question is, do I Install as /var/discourse ? Or the Root as is said in apache2 file of the IP , which is β†’ Document Root /home/$User/web/$IPaddess/public_html/ ?

You install on /var/discourse like normal

and you make sure that Apache2 does not bind to the Discourse IP,
and that Discourse Docker/nginx does not bind to the β€œroot” IP where Apache2 is at.

Thank-You
That is what I thought, but was Not sure

Hello,
I have just tried to Install it. But it did Not like Apache :slightly_frowning_face: So, my question is where in the Base Code could I Change theListen PORTs from 80 to 88 etc ? I could then git from a Fork If that is possible

Hi Sid,

You may want to read Set up Discourse on a server with existing Apache sites

Thank-You
I shall have a look.
