Looking for a technical community consultant (Discourse setup & product integration)

Hi all,

We’re building a community for Shapr3D, a professional 3D CAD tool, and are looking for a consultant who can help us technically assess, configure, and build on Discourse. We already have an existing instance, but need someone who can take it significantly further.

What we need help with:

  • Auditing our current setup( SSO payload, space structure, analytics access)

  • Extending SSO to pass custom attributes from our product (subscription tier, usage signals, account age)

  • API-driven badge and gamification automation triggered by external product events

  • Reshaping the existing community architecture (public/private spaces, role-based access, member groups)

  • Advising on managed vs self-hosted tradeoffs given our integration roadmap

The kind of person we’re looking for:

  • Hands-on Discourse admin experience. Not just community management, but the technical setup

  • Has configured SSO with custom payload fields before

  • Comfortable with APIs and webhook-based automation

  • Ideally has worked with a SaaS or developer tools company

Engagement:

Short-term assessment to start, roughly 4-5 weeks. The deliverable is a technical build spec and effort estimates. If the fit is right, there is scope for a longer engagement to implement it.

If this sounds like you or someone you know, reply here or reach out directly. Happy to share more context on the project.

Thanks!

Alex, Shapr3D
