Just to offer a solution here.. this was actually not Discourse, nor was it Dell’s firmware or my server at all. Turns out the Nginx instance my friend hosts (which my Discourse is downstream of) was about 2 years outdated and was issuing the internal server errors. Ever since I updated the Nginx instance these errors have gone away for good.
