Wow, the similarity is impressive.
Was the Discourse user menu heavily inspired by another software (like their chat design is by current popular chats)??
Edit: I registered at Mastodont (I didn’t know this software) to have a look at it.
On your screenshot, it’s very similar, but on desktop, it’s not the same. It’s a “regular” side menu like we see on many websites, and the purpose is de facto quite different from the Discourse’s user menu. Each icon links to a specific page:

Yeah it coincidentally looks the same, but the functionality is different. Twitter’s web navigation works similarly on narrow screens.
