Continuing the discussion from Emoji 5.0 support is a bit too patchy for woman version of emojis:
Discourse is (still?) missing a bunch of Emoji 5.0 gender variants, including :woman_vampire: 
:man_fairy: 
:merperson: 
and gender-neutral person shrugging.
EDIT: :merperson: is particularly odd, because it was called out by name in the earlier thread about this, and it was apparently never fixed…?
Will have a look next week.
I made a big fix the other day which is going to pave the way for fixing this, I will do it after our next big release though.
To be clear, is this waiting until after Discourse 2.8 ships? 2.9?
:woman_vampire: :man_fairy: :merperson: and gender-neutral person shrugging are all still missing, despite the recent update to emoji v13.
Could someone look into this?

I still need more work on it as it only deals with non-skin-tone emojis at the moment, but it should be ready soon.
