I first noticed this on the Omni Group site. I was about to create a topic there asking them to upgrade but before I did I stopped by here to see if anyone had this issue and found it happening here as well.
Viewing the source, these are tied to the letter images. I wasn’t able to determine what the correct URL should be.
I do not see it here but I have seen some avatar funkiness elsewhere. I suspect CDN shenanigans.
That would make sense. I was just checking in on a few other instances and it seemed a bit sporadic. My personal instance was fine but the others were random. And it’s not every letter having an issue either.
I’ve been seeing it at Sitepoint all morning.

An unhandled lowlevel error occurred. The application logs may have details.

I’m not sure if it’s localised to your servers? We’re seeing a similar problem running off a Digital Ocean droplet.
Ok, I’ve restarted the containers and the avatar service is now back up and running. You should see avatars after a refresh (or do a hard-refresh if you don’t).
