New notification level: Obnoxious

We have a SaaS product and every once in a while, we’ll have an incident (Who us? No! Never!) that first crops up in the community.

So I consolidate reports into a single thread as necessary and then monitor / communicate in the thread on an ongoing basis.

My preferences are set to Watching as soon as I act in the thread, but I’m wishing for an even higher level of notification: I’m wishing I could set incident threads to Desktop Notification.

I’ve got an incident thread going at the moment and I’ve just asked the users for more information. I wish I didn’t have to go back to that window every few minutes to see if we had anything. I’d really like Discourse to call my attention to it more forcefully.

Doesn’t this already exist, though? If you allow your browser to push notifications and grant permission to the website, it does:

The one caveat is if you’re already on the page, it may not trigger.

I believe you may need to have this enabled as well:

It’s found in: /my/preferences/notifications

To be honest, I block desktop notifications as a policy for most websites.

And, for this I would enable my Discourse forum.

But what I’m asking for is not a general desktop notification, (:face_vomiting:) but to be able to choose desktop notifications for specific threads and only those threads
